There is something wonderfully romantic about the idea of commissioning a a portrait, particularly when the portrait reveals only an eye.  Through a magical blend of technology and my paintbrush, your bespoke Lover's Eye is handcrafted from the photograph you supply.   As I couldn't find a suitable frame for these tiny heirlooms, I designed one myself, with both a stand and ring for hanging.  I'm already picturing a small column of eye portraits of your children, grandchildren or pets smiling out from a powder room wall.

Dimensions 2.75" x 3.5".  Please allow three weeks for delivery.

After placing your order, email meg@megcarterdesigns your photo. PLEASE  be sure to include your order number in the RE: field.

"Lover's Eyes first appeared in the late 18th century, when the future King George IV and Maria Fitzherbert exchanged tiny portraits revealing only an eye, a gesture as secret as it was romantic.  The fashion caught on, with these intimate little portraits appearing in lockets, brooches and rings, a private symbol of connection to be worn close to the heart.  Click on the checkboard image below to read the full story.

And because the gift begins before the box is opened, I've poured love into every element of your commission.  Your portrait arrives in the frame I designed especially for it, tucked into a custom drawer box, along with a handwritten card recording the subject, date and your personal message.  And of course, a tiny accordion book detailing the wonderfully romantic history of the Lover's Eye.

And now, the fun part:  whose eye?  Your children, grandchildren, husband, mother, grandmother, dog (cats are fine too).  I am still awaiting a horse commission.  There really are no rules, which may be my favorite part of all."
