It all began in the late 1700s, when King George IV (then the rakish Prince of Wales) went to the opera and that evening fell madly in love with Maria Fitzherbert. She was a Catholic, a widow and a commoner; he was heir to the throne. Marriage was thrice forbidden. While this deterred Mrs. Fitzherbert, George was relentless in his pursuit of passion, and in a gesture as secret as it was romantic, he sent her a tiny portrait of his own eye, painted in watercolor on ivory. Here Comes Holiday 11/28/22
We are just back a wonderful Thanksgiving week in Harbour Island. I've leaned into some much needed R&R, beach time, frozen rum drinks, and lots of big belly laughs - topped off with all this pink sand and Bahamian blue water inspiration for my upcoming resort collection). 'Tis the Season 11/7/22
Thank God all the Halloween candy's gone. We've turned the corner into November - and with that, just like an NFL ref blows his kick-off whistle, or Wall Street sounds the opening bell, the shoppers' chimes ring out, "Let the holiday season begin!" 8/16/21 - August Postcard from Maine
Greetings from glorious "Vacationland" (the Maine license plates actually say Vacationland). We have enjoyed our beautiful first two weeks in my idea of paradise, but the last two days have been full of fog, to the point where the sea salt in my little salt dish is all clumped together. A perfect opportunity to pick up the proverbial pen, or keyboard, as it were.
