9/13/21 - Falling into the Forest

Why I went to the woods ... unfortunately it was not to follow in the footsteps of Henry David Thoreau.  I went to the woods because a fall collection is really hard for me to design.   I don't like brown or orange or rust or gold.   I like coral and aqua and pink and lilac.   I like sitting by the ocean, or being in it or atop it.  I like the feel of the sun on my brow, and the garden getting more glorious everyday.   I get a mean case of the blues every year when summer ends.

8/16/21 - August Postcard from Maine

Greetings from glorious "Vacationland" (the Maine license plates actually say Vacationland).   We have enjoyed our beautiful first two weeks in my idea of paradise, but the last two days have been full of fog, to the point where the sea salt in my little salt dish is all clumped together.   A perfect opportunity to pick up the proverbial pen, or keyboard, as it were.

7/05/21 - Summer Pleasures - Lilies!
My lilies are going absolutely crazy this year.   What pure JOY they bring.  And what beautiful weather we've had here in Virginia this weekend.   I know some of you in New England have not been as lucky.

Fresh cut grass, picking a perfectly ripe tomato, time for puzzles and games, and a morning saunter with my coffee through the garden to see what has burst into bloom overnight.    Road trips (with Cheetos and diet cokes)  and sudden stops at farm stands.

6/28/21 - Postcard from Nantucket
Lucky me spent last weekend visiting my fabulously talented friend Merrill Strange on Nantucket.    When Merrill is not busy working on her beautiful hand painted ceramics, she likes to pack a walk, a bike ride, a swim and a tennis game into every day.   I've never been so happy I don't play tennis - there is no way I could keep up.     We walked, talked, rode bikes to Sconset (and to Surfside, Madaket and Steps beach), swam, drank a little wine, and ate a lot of delicious seafood and fresh strawberries.   I called her Miraval Merrill.
