Or more specifically, birds, bees, butterflies & Bunny - with a dash of Oscar.  

Lucky me spent this past Saturday at Bunny Mellon's Oak Spring Garden in Upperville, Virginia.     I was there for an embroidery class, but also to drink in all the loveliness that exudes from every nook and cranny of this aesthete's oasis nestled in Virginia's Hunt Country.  Mrs. Mellon was an accomplished and avid collector, and we were treated to a tour of her library, with a special focus on needlework-related books and objects.  In all things Mrs. Mellon touched, she left beauty.  And that's before we even begin to talk about her garden.  READ MORE

In December of 2022, I was sitting around the fire before dinner with a glass of wine, my husband, and a good friend who was visiting us.  She (my friend, not the wine) said, "I'm going to Rome next month.  You ought to come with us."  I thought, "oh, there's no way I could possibly go to Rome next month".  And then 

"But what if I said yes?"   In fact, I did.   The trip wasn't a super luxe trip, and January is  a wonderful time to travel to Europe because no one else thinks so.   (It rained a lot and we even saw snowflakes, which is virtually unheard of in Rome.)  And it became one of my favorite trips ever.    READ MORE

Last Monday, I was whining just a wee bit about the midwinter blues.   What a difference a week makes.  I'm just back from a long weekend with the dearest of friends, my smile from laughter hasn't faded.   And today, I'm scurrying about preparing for a quick trip to Palm Beach, where I'll be having a trunk show at Lycette Designs on South County Road, this Saturday, March 4.   READ MORE
