2/28/22 Around the World in 80 Days
My husband and I just finished the watching BBC's remake of the Jules Verne classic, Around the World in 80 Days. The German actress Leonie Benesch was particularly enchanting in the role of fledgling journalist Abigail Fix (above), and the lavish sets did not disappoint this devoted Masterpiece fan - see them in Architectural Digest here. John Singer Sargent never fails to enchant, and his portrait of Lady Agnew - in her languid pose and all of her elegant assurance - was a triumph at its debut in 1893, and thus launched Sargent's meteoric career. Has there ever lived a better master of loose brushwork or the mixing of cerulean shades of blue than Sargent? But what may set him most apart is his mastery at capturing an expression which conveys the soul of the sitter.
11/01/21 a Candy Colored Christmas
The artist Mark Lovejoy creates riotous works of art beginning with a mad swirl of intensely pigmented commercial printing inks. His visuals seemed to me like a fine jumping off point to introduce my Holiday 2021 Collection. Learn more about Mark Lovejoy's work here.
8/16/21 - August Postcard from Maine
Greetings from glorious "Vacationland" (the Maine license plates actually say Vacationland). We have enjoyed our beautiful first two weeks in my idea of paradise, but the last two days have been full of fog, to the point where the sea salt in my little salt dish is all clumped together. A perfect opportunity to pick up the proverbial pen, or keyboard, as it were.
