Balanced in Pink and Blue 2/3/25

Balanced in Pink and Blue 2/3/25

Balance is hard (at least for me it is).   But there it sits, waiting patiently to be called up to bat - if only we practice.  Balance is not about perfection; it's about harmony.   Let your mind's eye wander with me this morning ... picture the steady rhythm of waves meeting the shore , or the golden light of dawn embracing the earth.   Do you feel balance?    As women, we are naturally wired to do it all, to care for our families and one another, and to take care of whatever needs doing.  But sometimes we have dreams of our own - have yours fallen by the wayside in the pursuit of  ... whatever it is that we pursue, day in and day out?  We must make time to nurture ourselves with the same devotion we've shown to our families, our careers, our commitments.   As Brene Brown reminds us,

"You can't pour from an empty cup".  READ MORE

Dreaming in Pink 1/20/25

Dreaming in Pink 1/20/25

Happy MLK day, happy inauguration day.  And today, for here at least, we're talking about neither.  Today, we're keeping it light - dreaming in pink.   How about we chat about inspiration and creativity, big dreams, and of course how to celebrate our galentines?  Won't you come along?

I've just returned from the wholesale gift show in Atlanta, what an inspiration!  And heavens to Betsy, do I have some TALENTED FRIENDS!   For those of you, dear readers who are new, or have been gallivanting around the globe and may have missed a few Monday missives, well .... last fall, we introduced a new storefront on the website, called "Meg & Friends".   READ MORE

Out of the Blues 212/24

Out of the Blues 212/24
In last week's note, I shared that I was feeling a case of the blues.  So many of you, dear readers, reached back to me with a tender word.    How do I thank you?   It was like a tall drink of water.  I was talking with a friend about the beautiful outpouring from both friends and friends-whom-I-have-not-yet-met, and she posited that perhaps there is something empowering about dropping the facade.  My friend likened it to Truman Capote's swans - all that energy expended in creating the perfect visage, whereas inner strength can most be found in seeing and owning one's true self, imperfections and all.   READ MORE

In the Pink 2/4/24

In the Pink 2/4/24
Aaah what is it about some weeks?   This one was not my week.  The ugly beast of my insomnia raised its dragon head.   The little things and a few big ones that didn't go my way seemed overwhelming.   I know it helps to put the words down on paper (proverbially or preferably in an especially beautiful journal).   I'm writing it down here, because I hope it might help just one of my dear readers to know you're not alone if you're having some mid winter blues, big or small.  READ MORE

Self Galentining 1/22/24

Self Galentining 1/22/24
Hello friends!
What fun to be sitting at my desk, looking out over a snowy garden, musing over bons mots while sifting through little drops of beauty to share on a frigid January morning.   This is one I like - to paraphrase James Clear, "Be the person you would like to be".  So if you want to be someone like my friend Amy, who always has a smile for others, and never loses her composure when her well laid plans get turned upside down, stop and take a deep breath, and just pretend to do what she would do.  Grace under pressure.  READ MORE
