This photo is sort of like us. A Love Note Reader's view of the world. We see a beautiful blue sea with soft summery laundry billowing in the foreground. We can almost feel the sunshine on our shoulders, a breeze wafting through salty hair. We ignore what looks like a platoon of icebergs passing by in the background. This is our nature.
The iceman has already cometh, we're all done with winter. We expect this last gasp of March to exit like an Easter lamb. And off we go. READ MORE

Midsummer Nights 7/28/25
I am rather irked by the parade of brown prints and suede boots high-stepping their way into my Instagram feed this week. And so begins my annual lament: let the sultry magic of summer linger a bit longer.
Hellooooo. It's still July, people.
After all, the days are still long and the evenings still warm ... why break the enchantment?

The Shell Seekers 5/12/25
I stumbled upon this curious shell tree during a March beach walk in Boca Grande, and got to wondering about its architect ... was he or she a he or she? Young or old? A local or a visitor like me?

Today's note is but a brief postcard. It was my last weekend in Florida, and while I'm clothed in a wee bit more than the two gals above*, I am 100 percent embracing their vibe. As you read this, I'll be on a plane home - and after a crazy successful and fun trunk show at the Gasparilla Inn, I took these last few days off (mostly) to kick back and soak in the sun.
I hope your week is soaked with sunshine, fair winds and following seas. READ MORE

"The cure for anything is salt water:
sweat, tears or the sea.”
Isak Dinesen
Given a choice, I’ll take the sea, please. I’ve just arrived on the Florida gulf coast for a work trip (yes, lucky me - my trunk show at the Gasparilla Inn opens today). And I did indeed dip my whole pale self into the sea within hours of my flight's arrival. Old Isak would be pleased to hear that there's also been a fair amount of sweat in getting to today. Clever readers know that life isn't all Instagram stories, preparation for such a trip isn't limited to booking a mani pedi and shopping for caftans. READ MORE
